“This was a year of brilliant singles and EP’s with several great, but mostly just good LP’s. Who knows, maybe every year for a while has been like that and it’s been hard to notice until this life-changer called Spotify (and all other free streaming services) came into our lives. It’s altered not only the way we listen to music, but how we find it, share it and enjoy it. With that, I was able to hear more music in one year than probably the last two years combined which is obviously incredible. That brings in the good, and bad. The “bad” being complications from so much good. There’s less time for albums to sink in with infinite new music, meaning I’ll hear more but I may miss some great music that simply won’t hit me until later listens. C’est la vie. It is what it is and if you’ve had a conversation with me about music within this year, you know I’m borderline evangelical about the power of this new way of experiencing music.”
